Heirloom
Wool Bedding is hand-crafted in the old-world tradition. Our products
are:
- Hand-Quilted. While
most duvets and mattress pads are machine stitched or tufted, the tradition
of the Mennonites has been to stretch the duvet on a frame and quilt
the whole piece by hand. The quilting must be loose enough to allow
plenty of loft in the duvet or mattress pad, yet tight enough to prevent
the wool from shifting around within it.
- All-Natural. All of
our bedding products use only earth’s natural products as ingredients:
- filling is made of carded wool batts.
- sheeting is of unbleached cotton.
- stitching uses cotton yarn and thread.
- Canadian Wool. The
Heirloom Wool Company uses only Virgin Canadian Wool. This wool, raised
on the cold Canadian Prairies, has superior natural attributes to provide
more loft and warmth in each duvet.

The Duvet Cover:
The Heirloom Wool Duvet is best used with a duvet cover, available from
major retailers in a variety of fabrics and colours. The cover may be
changed to suit the decor of the season.
Sizes:
The duvet is produced in the standard sizes used in North America - King,
Queen, Twin, and Crib. The Heirloom Wool Company will also produce all
products in custom sizes upon request.
Packaging:
Each duvet is packaged in a natural cotton draw-string
bag, along with a small cedar block to add a scent of the natural clear
woods to your purchase.
Care:
The Heirloom Wool Company recommend that wool bedding
be occasionally be hung out in the fresh air. Wool fibres are best kept
away from chemicals and severe washing techniques. If necessary, the duvet
may be gently hand-washed in luke-warm water and laid flat to dry. Wool
products may also be dry cleaned by companies familiar with natural wool
products. |
